“Going Fishing” is a scene that may be familiar to many who have traveled to a Caribbean island and stopped to buy a delicious meat, fish or vegetable patty from a local vendor. The original painting has sold but is now available as a high quality fine art print. Hillside houses guard the shallow, small boat marina where local fishermen head out, sometimes with son in tow, to pull in the day's catch.
As a landscape artist, I continue to train my eyes and brain to see the subtle colors that present themselves in what, at first, seem to be one color. I love to portray the varying blues and greens of shallow crystal-clear turquoise water. Before beginning the actual painting, I toned the blank canvas a golden-orange that I allow to occasionally peek through and provide a warm feeling to the scene. I have included some close-up photos to provide a better perspective of the painting details.
